Project 821 | iNSPIRE Community Lounge: Connecting Research with Communities
The aim of the iNSPIRE Community Lounge (CL) is to create a welcoming space where members of the local community can learn about research, share their views, and influence how research is designed and carried out. We want to make research accessible to everyone within the local community, showing how it can link with everyday health and care.
Our objectives are to:
– Strengthen links between the SPCR member’s institution (Keele), and the local people in North Staffordshire,
-co-produce clear and engaging information about research being conducted at Keele,-gather feedback from local community members on research priorities,
-obtain feedback on and gain insight into what methods of research delivery are most acceptable, and-share the results of research conducted at Keele with the local community.
Approach
The CL is hosted in a local community venue, where members of the public feel comfortable, and where it is accessible and convenient for them to attend. Refreshments are provided, and sessions are informal, interactive, and welcoming. Sessions involve conversations, displays, and hands-on co-creative activities. Information is shared during sessions about planned, current and completed research, and we encourage open discussion.
Members of the iNSPIRE Working Group from Keele CTU, work together to deliver the sessions. They are on hand to answer questions, listen to feedback, and support discussions.
