The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) is delighted to announce the recipients of our Outstanding Contribution to Public and Community Involvement Awards, recognising the individuals, groups and project teams that have made exceptional contributions to public and community involvement across SPCR research.

The awards were established to celebrate the vital role that public contributors, community partners, researchers and project teams play in shaping high-quality primary care research. We were thrilled to receive an outstanding response, with 46 nominations submitted across three award categories, showcasing the breadth, diversity and impact of involvement activity taking place across the school.

The judging panel was hugely impressed by the quality of nominations received. Across all three categories, nominations highlighted inspiring examples of partnership working, innovation, inclusivity, leadership and long-term commitment to public and community involvement. They showcased contributions that have shaped research priorities, strengthened study design and delivery, built lasting relationships with communities, and helped ensure that research is relevant to the people it seeks to benefit.

We were particularly struck by the range of approaches represented, from longstanding collaborations spanning many years to innovative new models for involving patients and communities in complex research programmes. Collectively, the nominations demonstrated the exceptional commitment to meaningful involvement that exists across the SPCR and the significant impact that public and community contributors, researchers and project teams have on the quality and relevance of primary care research.

To recognise the exceptionally high standard of submissions, three levels of recognition were awarded in each category: Award Winners, Recognition of Excellence, and Highly Commended awards. This approach allowed us to acknowledge a greater number of the outstanding contributions taking place across the SPCR.

We are exceptionally proud and delighted to recognise the following individuals, groups and teams for their contributions to public and community involvement in research:
