The NIHR Three Research Schools Prevention Research Programme has launched a new call for Pre-Application Support Funding, designed to support researchers preparing applications for an NIHR Career Development funding award.
As part of the programme’s capacity-building work, the funding will provide support for those who would benefit from assistance in developing their application.
Who can apply?
Applicants must:
- Meet the eligibility criteria for the NIHR Career Development funding award they intend to apply for.
- Have agreed how their current position will be covered during the period of support and have the backing of their line manager or supervisor.
- Have a clear link with the NIHR Three Research Schools and be hosted by one of its members.
- Be at any career stage, provided there is a clear link to the Three Research Schools Prevention Programme and the applicant meets the relevant eligibility criteria.

The deadline for applications is 12pm (noon) on Friday 27 November 2026. Applications will be reviewed in January, with outcomes shared with candidates at the beginning of February 2027.
