Background:
Split across two sessions this training aims to provide attendees with an understanding of what public reviewers look for and prioritise when reviewing and evaluating grant applications.
The first session will focus on writing Plain English Summaries, and will include tips, advice and further resources to support researchers to write a clear and accessible Plain English Summary for grant applications.
The second session will provide further information on what to include in a public involvement section, including what information should be provided in this section, how it should be structured. You will also hear from public reviewers about their perspective on what makes a good public involvement section.
What does the session involve:
- Understand the role of public reviewers in reviewing grant applications
- Understand what makes a good Plain English Summary and Public Involvement Section
- Hear from public reviewers on their experience of reviewing research applications and their perspective on common pitfalls in grant applications
