Project Title: Improving Support for Physical Activity in Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (ISPA-T1D)
Brief Summary:
Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is one of the most common chronic diseases in adolescents. Adolescents with T1D have twice the risk of developing cardiovascular disease compared to those without diabetes. This risk can be reduced by being physically active. Around two thirds of adolescents with T1D are not sufficiently active and there are no programmes that provide T1D specific help and support with physical activity.
This project aims to:
i) Enhance our knowledge and understanding of physical activity in adolescents with T1D
ii) Develop a primary care / community based intervention to promote and support physical activity in adolescents with T1D.
