Improving mental health and wellbeing in underserved populations through collaborative research

April 2024 to March 2026

PHASE TWO

We are thrilled to announce that the National Health Institute for Health and Social care (NIHR) has invested a further £4.98 million in the Three NIHR Research Schools’ Mental Health Programme. This second phase will build on our early successes in phase one, supporting the implementation of evidence into practice and policy and will be prioritised to populations and themes not significantly represented in phase one.

Research Development Grant - Mental Health in Different Religious Groups
Research funding in phase 2 will build on early successes, supporting the implementation of evidence into practice and policy. In this funding call, we are interested in applications with a specific focus on Mental Health in Different Religious Groups.

This competition is now open and will close at 3.30pm on Monday 21 October 2024

*Please note, non HEI organisations can be costed up to 100%. Overheads should not be included for non HEI organisations and must be removed from the ‘Institutions & Organisations’ worksheet of the costing template where they are generated but do not apply.

Career Development Award
Research funding in phase 2 will build on early successes, supporting the implementation of evidence into practice and policy. In this funding call, we are inviting applications from those in the early stages of their mental health research careers to further develop their academic careers and build their research networks. We are particularly interested in applications from health and care professionals working in mental health but without a strong track record of mental health research (including but not limited to social work, nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, public health practitioners, housing providers, care home managers, paramedics) and methodologists (including social scientists, statisticians, economists and evidence synthesis experts) wishing to develop research careers in the area spanned by this programme.
The applicant must be linked to one of the university members of the Three NIHR Schools.
