We are saddened to hear of the death of our SPCR colleague Dr. Sudeh Cheraghi-Sohi. Our thoughts go out to our colleagues, at the University of Manchester, and to her family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we are sharing the difficult news that our much loved colleague, Sudeh Cheraghi-Sohi passed away recently. Sudeh was a Research Fellow within the School of Health Sciences, University of Manchester and had worked there for the past 20 years. For most of those years she worked within the Centre for Primary Care and Health Services Research, where she completed her PhD in 2011.

Sudeh was a bright light bringing energy and passion to all aspects of her role at the university. She was committed to patient safety research, leading many projects to make NHS care safer for patients and to address inequality in access to safe care - including primary care and maternity services.

Sudeh had an easy rapport with colleagues and developed many friendships across her networks at the university and beyond.  She was nurturing and supportive to those around her and always enthusiastic to mentor and supervise more junior staff and students.

Improving research culture and making it more inclusive was a mission dear to Sudeh’s heart. She was a real force for efforts to enhance equality diversity and inclusion, acting as Athena Swan champion at the University of Manchester for many years. She was also deeply committed to social responsibility and built strong community partnerships for her research.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
