Supporting increased research capacity in Exeter

One of the SPCR’s key goals is to increase the capacity of the primary care research workforce. Even though the University of Exeter has only been a member since 2021, there have been several examples where early-career researchers have benefitted from SPCR support. 

Attracting a talented sports science researcher into primary care research 

After completing a PhD in Sport and Health Sciences, Emma Cockroft worked as a Research Fellow co-ordinating patient and public involvement across a range of health services research projects. In 2021, Emma successfully secured an SPCR postdoctoral fellowship to build on her own research interests and joined the Exeter Collaboration for Academic Primary Care (APEx).
